LitePoint President Talks COVID-19 Impact on Internet at Electronic Design
By Brad Robbins
April 1, 2021It’s hard to imagine, but it has been one full year since the first COVID-19 stay-at-home orders changed lives across the globe, seemingly overnight. Very quickly, school, work and even social interactions moved to a screen in our living rooms or bedrooms or any space we could find as entire families adjusted to remote interactions.
At the same time, many of us became painfully aware of the limitations of internet connectivity when two, three or more Zoom connections at times proved to be too much for our home internet. That’s because the way the internet was built was to prioritize consumption, with asymmetrical link speeds designed to provide faster download speeds. Now, we’re learning and collaborating remotely, and we need two-way communication with high bandwidth in both directions.
Luckily, 5G and Wi-Fi 6 are emerging to help internet service providers deliver better uplink and downlink connections.
In February, LitePoint President, Brad Robbins, authored an article at Electronic Design, exploring the limitations of internet access as currently built and what makes 5G and Wi-Fi 6 ideal for tackling the limitations of the internet. You can read the full article here.
